I am currently in Suffolk as my son has been in Norwich Hospital with a broken back since last Monday. He is doing OK fortunately and has managed to stand and walk a few steps today but for the next two or three weeks at least I shall be staying here to help my daughter-in-law in any way I can. Although I have internet access I simply don't have time to post at the moment. I shall be back eventually :)
Edited to add that Neil is home from hospital now and is doing well. He's walking albeit very slowly but any progress is very welcome. Thank you so much for all your good wishes, they are much appreciated.

I am so sorry to hear about your son's broken back..that is simply awful.
I had a riding accident ..falling from my mare some 20 years ago. I have had 3 spinal operations.. my 3rd was last december. I sympathize with him.. tell him to take care.

I've been so busy that the computer has come last each day but today I decided to catch up a little bit.
Hope your son will improve steadily each day. I know a little of what you are going through as Paul broke his back in April 2002 and spent a term out of teaching - it took a while but he grew stronger every day. Take care.

What an awful to have happen to Neil. I am glad to hear he was home and starting on the road to recovery. Please know that I am keeping him and all of your family in my thoughts and prayers. I hope he takes each day as it comes allowing his body time to heal.

Dear Rowan, I've only just caught up since getting back from OZ and here I find disturbing news about your dear son. I'm so very sorry this accident happened and glad to know he is recuperating be it slowly.
