Therefore all seasons shall be sweet to thee,
Whether summer clothe the general earth
With greeness, or the redbreast sit and sing
Betwixt the tufts of snow on the bare branch
Of mossy apple-tree, while the nigh thatch
Smokes in the sun-thaw; whether the eave-drops fall
Heard only in the trances of the blast,
Or if the secret ministry of frost
Shall hang them up in silent icicles,
Quietly shining to the quiet Moon.

The Best Laid Plans

There was going to be a proper post today. After spending the morning doing domestic goddess stuff, packing, then reading and commenting on other blogs I planned to do a post this afternoon. Then guess who turned up?:) And looking at that photo perhaps I should add that the dark patches are shadow in the pile of the carpet, not dirt!! Really they are:)

Miss Kaitlyn started walking last week and came to demonstrate her new skills to granny and grandad (who appeared singularly unimpressed!) and when Miss Kaitlyn went home granny no longer had any energy left for blogging having had more exercise this afternoon than all the rest of the week put together:) Had to laugh at her as her trousers spent more time round her ankles than her waist which hindered things a bit:) Since I am off to Sussex again early tomorrow a proper post will have to wait until I come back. It's still pitching down with rain so I'm not sure whether I shall be driving or sailing back home to Sheffield at the weekend:) Steve and Hannah are close to the flooded areas and were on an island for a while with Catcliffe at one side and the River Rother on the other. Their house was OK but three days without power put paid to the contents of the freezer. Could have been much worse but fortunately they live at the top of a hill. I feel so sorry for all those people who have been flooded though. There isn't much sign of those lazy, hazy days of summer in the UK at the moment I'm afraid.

Kaitlyn is adorable- what pretty eyes she has! Seeing her pants around her ankles reminded me very much of my daughter when she started walking- I remember having to cuff them constantly.

It's been an unusually wet summer here in Oklahoma too. We've escaped the worst of the flooding here, but a town near where my husband and I grew up in Kansas is in terrible shape with the flooding an an oil refinery leak on top of that.

Have a safe (dry!) trip!

My! hasn't she grown?! Lovely!

Glad to hear you escaped the floods. This weather is unbelievable. Whatever happened to summer? Enjoy your trip.

How Kaitlyn has grown, she looks all legs..!
She looks very much like her daddy.
We finally got our rain, and it has been steadily coming down all day.
Have a safe trip, and take a life jacket..!

have a safe trip dear Rowan - don't you just love that age? so cute! Last night, I took my grandson to see Bridge to Tarabithia and we both loved it.
Cannot wait to hear all about your travels when you get home - my trip to Coolah this weekend, doesn't sound near as interesting

Rowan,
Spending time with grand children trumps any other activity. Kaitlin is sprouting like a corn stalk in Iowa. Next year at this time, I suspect that she'll be helping granny in the garden.
The weather patterns have been goofy all round the globe....aaah, it's probably nothing.
Safe trip to you!

Those Miss Kaitlyn's will keep a Nana busy, won't them? :-))))

And I'm so sorry that your country is also having flooding problems. Happy that yours are at the top of a hill though. Even though they lost the freezer worth.

Hope you *swim* carefully, to and from Sussex. :-)

Ahh, sighhhhh... now you can't comment in my 'smilnsigh' blog. Oh I am so upset about this issue. -sighhhhhhh-

Kaitlyn is beautiful.
I feel for those poor people with flooding. We had a drainage malfunction, & flood, & are now awaiting our new carpet.
Grandchildren are wonderful, but they do tend to tire us Grannies!

What a cutie pie, Miss Kaitlyn is!!

I'm looking forward to your photos from this trip!

I posted photos of Bagnell Dam (at Lake of the Ozarks) with gates open in my July 5th blog. They were opened, due to the flooding in Kansas. I hope flooding in your part of the world, ends soon!!

Loved reading your blogs because England was the country of my birth and where we reared our children. Now live in America, but England's never far away in my mind, which I guess is why I write about it in my books :-)

Sorry you're having all that rain. Wish we could get some of it. Better than our hundred degree weather that's keeping us toasty at the moment.

What a sweetie! But I agree they are tiring ~ enjoy your trip to Sussex and I hope you find some sun... somewhere. I know we haven't had any for aaages, and as much as I love a good dose of rain (we need it alot of the time), every single day for 2 months is a wee bit much. Even for me! It'll be webbed feet next!

Kaitlyn is beautiful! Your comment about her pants spending time around her ankles made me remember my daughter....hers did the same thing.

Running around after a toddler can sure give you a good workout!

So sorry to hear about all the flooding but I'm glad everyone is ok. Freezer contents can be replaced.
