Therefore all seasons shall be sweet to thee,
Whether summer clothe the general earth
With greeness, or the redbreast sit and sing
Betwixt the tufts of snow on the bare branch
Of mossy apple-tree, while the nigh thatch
Smokes in the sun-thaw; whether the eave-drops fall
Heard only in the trances of the blast,
Or if the secret ministry of frost
Shall hang them up in silent icicles,
Quietly shining to the quiet Moon.

Favourite song MeMe

Bovey Belle from Codlins and Cream has asked me to do a MeMe for my favourite song, there are a lot of candidates really - it depends mostly on what mood I'm in. This one though I've always loved, not the words especially but the sound - that great saxophone and the incredible guitar solo really do things to me and it might not be what most of you are expecting! You'll need to copy and paste the url because I don't know how to link to YouTube. Here it is

Listen and see if that saxophone doesn't send shivers down your spine:)

I do agree! That MeMe arrived on my site too from another direction - gets you thinking doesn't it?

I agree about the saxophone and guitar solo. Isn't it mystical how a musical instrument can make us feel all sorts of things; things like longing and loneliness? The saxophone, of all the instruments, is the most soulful and sensual. It makes me feel things that shouldn't be put down here!

Have you ever heard Bruce Springsteen's Born To Run CD? Great, great sax on that. Youtube probably has it. Give it a try and tell me how you like it.

For me it's always La Vie En Rose.

Brilliant choice, and YES to the shivers down the spine. Saxaphones can really TALK. I shall be singing that all day now!

I don't think I could chose just one favourite. Baker Street is wonderful though! I was sad to hear that John Dankworth the jazz saxophonist has passed away this weekend.

Wow, if that doesn't open the floodgates of memories for me! End of a hot summer day in Southern Calif., driving home from the beach in traffic! I've heard it for so many years, yet only connect it to that one memory...thank you for sharing the link, it was fun :)

Debbie, I'm not familiar with that particular CD of Bruce Springsteen but my eldest son was a big fan in the days of Born In The USA and I really enjoyed that when it was played - which was frequently:)
