Therefore all seasons shall be sweet to thee,
Whether summer clothe the general earth
With greeness, or the redbreast sit and sing
Betwixt the tufts of snow on the bare branch
Of mossy apple-tree, while the nigh thatch
Smokes in the sun-thaw; whether the eave-drops fall
Heard only in the trances of the blast,
Or if the secret ministry of frost
Shall hang them up in silent icicles,
Quietly shining to the quiet Moon.

Here's Another Fine Mess You've Got Me Into!

Guess where I spent yesterday afternoon? I was walking B Baggins by the river and slipped on a wet stone and I knew straightaway that it wasn't good news. My brilliant daughter came from work (DH was away) and took me to A & E at Northern General Hospital where X-Rays showed a broken left wrist. I had a local anaesthetic in the wrist joint and they manoevred a piece of broken bone back into place and then pulled two pieces apart that had jammed together before putting this temporary cast on. It actually sounds worse than it was but poor J probably has a crushed hand from me hanging on to her! I have to say that all the staff who helped me were brilliant - kind, friendly and efficient.I have to go back tomorrow for the proper cast which I can apparently choose the colour of and have glitter on if I want - watch this space!

DH is now back home on dog walking and kitchen duties and I shall have a lot of spare time on hands for a few weeks. Since I can type with one finger there may be one or two posts starting with my recent trip to London.

I hasten to add that B Baggins was a totally innocent bystander in this, it was entirely my own fault for wearing trainers instead of proper walking boots!

Oh, Rowan!
This could never be a good thing, but especially disheartening at the beginning of summer.
I'm sure the mend time will get boring before it is over--try to enjoy a bit of pampering while you can.

So sorry to hear about your mishap, Rowan! Hope you are completely healed soon.

Oh No!!! I hope you take it easy and let your family pamper you a bit. And hopefully it will heal quickly with little pain. Go for the Glitter -- Glitter makes everything better!

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

So that's what happened. I can recommend some good books if you like.

I have always wanted to be incapacitated so that I could just sit around and read.

Then one day I got hit by a car while riding my bike. I was in the hospital with a concussion. Wouldn't you know it, I couldn't focus on a book without getting sick. It's true I guess, I should have been careful what I wished for. Heal quickly

Oh, no, Rowan! I am so sorry. It makes me shiver to hear about them pulling it apart to set, but I know it is necessary. How on earth can you type with one hand? I am glad you will try, though. I always like to hear your news.
Hugs to Bilbo. Take care, now.

Oh, no!! That's not good. I broke my left wrist many years ago while roller skating! The big challenge was trying to get dressed with one hand. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Hello Rowan,

You'll have to take more water with it next time! The plaster always looks alarmingly large but if you can have colour and glitter - go for it! Hope it doesn't inconvenience you too much and that DH copes admirably with his new role.

Poor you Rowan, life can certainly change direction in a second when a fall occurs. Hope your fracture heals quickly - glitter should help - and that you are able to catch up with fun things such as books while your DH dusts and cooks, ha! ha!

The trip was the most amazing experience of my life.......and I did take your advice and not put my feet in the water, of which there was a lot, but no rain and perfect temps. every day. We were treated like royalty at the camps, several of the management staff being young, adventurous Brits, and the local people were smiling and attentive at all times. As for the wildlife - words cannot describe all the awesome sightings - I saw just about every animal except the wild dogs. I'm already longing to return if ever possible!

Get well soon dear.
Hugs, Mary

Thank you all for your good wishes, I'm doing OK but it's going to be a long 6 weeks with this pot on I think. Still, I'm over halfway through the 824 pages of 'London - The Biography' !

Poor poor Rowan! I hope you went for glitter!!! xxxxx

Dear Rowan - I hope you feel better now, must have been a shock. I know no end of people who fall similarly, but it's usually ankles that seem to break. Guess one broken wrist is better than two eh? Take care.

Sorry to hear about this! I hope it will be soon over and you will regain your full ability....... On a second guess, maybe having DH doing all the job isn't a totally bad thing....

Oh you poor thing! On the bright side.... Think of all the reading you can catch up on!
I wish you a good and healthy recovery.
Blessings

Hi Rowan, just dropping by to see how you are doing. I hope you aren't in any pain and the arm is healing well ??
Just a few more weeks and the cast can come off I suppose. Just hang in there. Sending you lots of healing vibes from The Netherlands ; )

Oh, Rowan! I'm so sorry! I hope it isn't too painful or, at least, they've given you pain meds that don't make you too sleepy. So, for now, take it easy and enjoy being pampered!

Lynda (Granny K) said...

Hope you are 'on the mend' and feeling better now.

Hi Rowan, continue to think of you and wish for a speedy recovery. Know you can probably only type with one hand so posting may be difficult. BUT.....hopefully you can at least take a break from reading LONDON and scroll through your favorite blogs using a finger. I'm still posting on my trip - getting to the last days in South Africa which were amazing!!

Hope hubby is doing lots to help - wish I was closer and could assist too.
Hang in there dear.
Hugs - Mary

Dear Rowan

How are things. By my calculations you should be about half way through your enforced rest. Thank you for your one fingered comments they have been much appreciated. If you are anything like me you are probably chomping on the bit to fight off any restrictions. Has it precluded you taking bilbao walkies or have you been banned for the time being. Just take care and hopefully you will soon be back in the swing of things, with that long list of to do's you have been making whilst incapacitated.

Take care

Well, Miss Rowan, I guess I just sent an email ... thought I had stopped by here to say that I missed you and that Bilbo Baggins does look totally innocent. I am sure he has been a great comforter and companion while you have been confined somewhat! However, I'll bet you and he are getting restless and are looking forward to one of your great rambles through the woods! Hope you are much improved by now!

Oh Rowan, sorry to hear about your broken wrist. I hope that it heals quickly, best wishes Pj x

Ouch! So sorry you broke your wrist but am glad that you are mending. Hmmm, Mr. Bilbo B. looks guilty anyway. Gracie has that look whenever she "steals" something she's not supposed to have.
